The UK's most successful Formula Student team

About UH Racing

About

UH Racing is a team of undergraduate students at the University of Hertfordshire who compete in the worldwide phenomenon that is Formula Student. Each year a new single seat race car is designed, manufactured and built by the team, with support from the university, partners, and alumni. The team is made up of students from all levels ranging from level 4s in first year, to level 7s in their final year completing their MEng.

UH Racing was founded in 1997 by a small group of students at the university with a passion for motorsports and the aim of competing in the Formula Student UK competition the following year. In the twenty four years that have passed since the team was founded, it has flourished and greatly expanded, competing in Formula Student competitions worldwide; making great achievements and collecting many awards along the way. Some of the teams’ greatest achievements to date include producing the first hydrogen powered Formula Student car and competing with the first electric Formula Student car.

UH22 allowed the team to end its combustion era on a high in 2019, enabling the team to open a new chapter in its long history: for the 2020 season, UH Racing returned to an electric powertrain. While the team has faced numerous obstacles since then, it remains hopeful that this year, with its latest addition UH28, it will compete dynamically for the first time since 2019.
